Duncan worked for over 16 years in a leading international manufacturer of technology for the dry mortar industry with roles in international business development and over 7 years as Managing Director of the German Group’s UK subsidiary.
Products include dry mortarblending plants, transportable silo delivery systems as well as continuous mixers for application, which are now widely used on construction sites in the UK and Ireland.
This international experience, coupled with that gained in running a UK-based manufacturing SME, are what attracted Duncan to the toolset and delivery methods that the IfM has developed specifically for SMEs.
Duncan strongly believes that the delivery of IfM's innovative business tools with UK SMEs can provide real value where it is needed and so elected to join the SME team from the beginning of 2010 to help with this work. He has worked successfully with many manufacturing SMEs across a range of market sectors, most recently as part of IfM’s Prisms project in the East of England as well as the ongoing Sharing in Growth Programme that is supporting manufacturing businesses in the Aerospace and Nuclear Sectors across many parts of the UK.
Duncan has a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Cambridge, an MBA from Warwick Business School and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. He is based in Manchester.
